ITM-Indústria Têxteis H.Milagre LTDA was established in 1977 in the region of the Serra GaúchaI in southern Brazil, with precarious infrastructure and a floorspace just over 2,000 square meters. The initial 40 employees handled production – focused on clothing at the time – but did not yet have equipment to carry out the entire process.

An expansion of the company began in the mid-80s, with the purchase of new machines, which allowed the product range to grow and led ITM to start focusing on the footwear industry. These investments also enabled us to overcome a major challenge: mastering the entire manufacturing process, rather than relying on other suppliers and service providers.

Environmental concern comes into focus

The environment began to receive more attention in the 1990s and would soon become an ITM hallmark, with the construction of a cutting-edge wastewater treatment station, a pioneering inititative in the biological treatment of industrial effluent. In addition, best practices taken into account in the company's production process and the investment in a laboratory with advanced features – accredited by Fepam (the state environmental agency) – allowed for strict water management and effluent control.

ITM concentrates its focus on improving quality in the production process by modernizing its machinery, improving its products and optimizing the use of resources. This initiative proves very successful and ITM becomes one of the few companies in Latin America to receive the approval to process the CORDURA® thread in its products.

Constant evolution is the key

ITM joins SATRA (Technology Research Institution UK) at the beginning of 2000 and makes investments in infrastructure, which results in the Technology Center, along with a high standard canteen that encourages healthful eating, a recreational area complete with a soccer field, as well as a well-equipped facility to hold events, training and internal staff-building activities, as well as opportunities to interact with company partners and the community at large.

A quality management project gets underway in this decade, bringing with it new management concepts based on an integrated ERP system. Between 2005 and 2008, ITM joins other pioneering companies in switching over to natural gas as its energy source.

Technological and strategic consolidation

In 2008, ITM purchases laminating equipment, an important milestone in the technical development of its products, becoming the only textile company in Latin America licensed by SYMPATEX® to use their high-tech membranes.

In 2016, the company reformulates all its strategic communication with the market, breaking down its portfolio into more than 25 product lines, separated by functionality, each with a specific communication concept developed and presented to the market. The company redesigns its website and makes it available in four languages: Portuguese, English, Spanish and German, with an eye on international expansion.

Sustained on the foundation of technical excellence, a consolidated manufacturing plant, a qualified workforce and solid partnerships with customers and suppliers, ITM holds a leading position in the industry, offering high value-added products and outstanding service.

ITM has set itself the challenge of becoming a supplier of textile solutions, integrating state-of-the-art technology with sustainable and ethical production processes, presenting itself as a global player focused on technology and innovation. More specifically, in the coming years ITM intends to pursue the following goals:
